    FAQ

    Q.WDoes my PBX support SP30?
A.The SP30 utilises the same protocols and methods to communicate with your PBX as the physical IP telephones. If your PBX is IP enabled then it can also run the Dterm SP30. As a general guideline, PBX manufactured after 1996 can be upgraded to support Voice Over Internet Protocol and exciting converged solutions like the NEC Dterm SP30.
    Q.How do I purchase a copy
A.For more information on purchasing the SP30 please contact your local NEC dealer.
    Q.What support do I get?
A.NEC prides itself on the support that it gives its customers. NEC has a dedicated 24 hour help desk designed to support all NEC products and services. Depending on the support agreement that you have with NEC will determine any Service Levels that we may meet. Information is always available on the WEB including the latest software updates, frequently asked questions and product documentation.
Q.Do you have a shareware version?
A.No, due to the need to have an NEC PBX and the need to have a licenses installed on the PBX it is not feasible to offer shareware versions of this application. If you would like to trial the application you can contact NEC local dealer for an interactive demonstration.
    Q.What is call logging?
A.Call logging is a useful feature that we have all grown accustom to by using mobile phones. The NEC Dterm SP30 logs all incoming and outgoing calls in an intuitive list. The list shows the other parties telephone number, the time of the call and duration if the call was connected. If you decide to record a call, then you will be able to access the recording from the call logging screen.
    Q.Can I record a call?
A.Dterm SP30 supports the ability for you to record a telephone conversation. This is a very useful feature but before using it you MUST check with local laws and regulation to ensure that you are not breaking the law by recording the voice of another part
If your local laws require the playing of ip tones?(Infrequent beeps) to inform the 3rd party that they are being recorded, you can make a configuration change in the SP30 configuration tool.
    Q.What is my SP30 login?
A.When you start using the SP30 it may ask you for a Login and password. (This is PBX and configuration dependant). The Login ID will be the same as the extension number that you want to use, the password will be given to you by you local administrator. If you are already using one of NEC抯 IP enabled handsets, you will be familiar with this concept and you can use the same login details.

If you are currently logged in on another phone, logging in to the SP30 will automatically log-out of the other phone and transfer all calls automatically to the NEC Dterm SP30!
    Q.Can I change the way SP30 looks?
A.Certainly, the SP30 comes complete with 4 different looks (colours) more skins may become available on the web site in the near future.
Q.WWhat network equipment do I need?
A.Network equipment becomes just as important as the quality of your PBX and handsets when we begin talking about the converged world of Voice on your desktop. NEC is proud to work with any vendor in the data networking arena. The protocols used to transmit the voice are standards based and will work on any network hardware that supports Voice over IP. To ensure quality voice you network must support the ability to prioritise voice data over your normal data traffic, without this your voice will become broken and garbled. To ensure that you network is up-to-date please contact NEC for a network audit.
    Q.Does SP30 support NAT?
A.Yes, the SP30 supports NAT, but requires the correct firmware on your PBX and for your organisation to be running the appropriate data networking equipment.
Q.Can I use it from a remote site?
A.es. The only condition to using the NEC Dterm SP30 from anywhere in the world is your ability to connect to your corporate LAN over a network that supports Quality of Service end to end. Talk to your administrator about remote access / VPN services. Or contact NEC and we can discuss enabeling QoS and VPN services on your network.
    Q.How do I set up SP30?
A.Setting up the SP30 is easy, but may require information from your local administrator. For more information on setting up the SP30 please refer to the user guide that accompanies the software.
